I've had a lot of requests for this formulation lately. I thought I would post it so more folks could use it.

When you have the flu, you have "fluids" coming out from your body. Whether you ride a bike long distances, are an endurance athlete, etc., it's the same thing. What to do. You can use the commercial sugar drinks. However, here's what I used and continued to use whether it's recovering from a virus where I've been throwing my guts up, or during & after a century bike ride. This formula uses nature's ingredients that help our body rather than the sugar and commercial electrolytes that are on the market. I've found great results and very quickly, in the way I feel during and after.
- 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice
- 2 tablespoons raw honey
- 2 big pinches or organic sea salt
- mix into 1/4 cup hot water to melt the honey
Add this mixture to 16 oz spring water and shake very well. It should taste like strong, salty lemonade.
I sip this during and after any bike ride, workout, after being ill, or on a long day out in nature. I also have fresh water with me. This recipe is specifically for electrolyte replacement. The sea salt provides minerals needed. The honey is a natural sweetener but also an antibiotic, preservative, antibacterial, etc. The fresh lemon is a blood purifier and cleanser.
And, if you like it, you can add ice, vodka and a spring of basil later in the day, for a rather spiffy adult cocktail. Enjoy!
