Everyone knows a tuberose flower right? (See picture on the right.) Well, we use Tuberose Flower Wax, made with the Enfleurage method of extraction from of the flowers from this plant. (See picture on the left.)
Why? Tuberoses are amazing. They smell like something from heaven. They look magestic, wild & regal. The oil and wax have amazing benefits to our health. Since we use only food grade ingredients - real ingredients, we thought you may want to know a little bit about the Tuberose Wax used as one of the ingredients in our Face Serums.
It's found in Central America and India. It is in high demand in the countries of the Indian Subcontinent, Middle East, and Africa in order to make perfume. The scientific name for Tuberose is Polianthes Tuberosa. The essential oil can be extracted by Solvent method or Enfleurage. It cannot be extracted by steam distillation since the flowers are so delicate. It takes 3500 pounds of hand picked flowers to make 1 pound of Tuberose Absolute oil. The main chemical elements of Tuberose Essential Oil are benzyl alcohol, butyric acid, eugenol, farnesol, geraniol, menthyl benzoate, menthyl anthranilate and nerol. You may see those names listed on a label. If you do not see Polianthes Tuberosa on the label and only one of the above...eugenol, farnesol, etc. This means they synthetically made this component in a lab and are using it rather than the expensive oil from the flower. Yikes!
There are health benefits to this wonderful flower that aren't commonly know.
Aphrodisiac: This oil behaves as an aphrodisiac. It is commonly used as an aphrodisiac in aromatherapy as well as herbal medicines. It has a very strong, intoxicating floral fragrance. It can be found to be very effective in treating frigidity and a lack of libido.
There are components of this oil, that stimulates parts of our brain responsible for arousal, sexual feelings, and libido. There are examples of this oil being taken orally, although rare. It relaxes the mind, central nervous system and relieves stress. It also increases the circulation of the blood. We use this in our Face Serum for this reason as well as the mind calming purposes.
Deodorant: It's a great deodorant since it has antibacterial, antifungal properties. It's been studied for it's affect on gram + and - bacteria. Its sweet, powerful smell is popular in countries with hot and humid climates since they may frequently have to deal with sweat & body odour.
Relaxing: The various chemical components of this oil have relaxing effects on the brain, nerves, and the muscles. It calms people and gives relief from stress, tension, depression, anxiety, anger, nervous afflictions, diarrhea, convulsions, cramps, spasms c and coughs.
Sedative: It is good for sedating inflammations. Particularly for the nervous system and respiratory system. In order to have the sedation needed in this circumstance, it would need to be used in high dilution.
Warming: Tuberose Essential Oil stimulates and increases blood circulation throughout the body. It induces a warming effect. It counters the feeling of cold in winters, keeps the respiratory system warm, prevents the deposition of phlegm and catarrh, increases activity, and also helps to cure sexual disorders.
Skin benefit: We use it in our Face Serum for all the above reasons as well as, because it helps keep the skin free of infections and cracks.
